We walked from downtown Kaohsiung to the site of the former British consulate at Takao. Although the hill where the site is perched upon is not very high, you can get a good view of Kaohsiung City and watch ships come in and out of the harbour, in addition to ferrying passengers back and forth to Cijin District 旗津區. This is a good location to take a rest, enjoy afternoon tea (but it comes with a price), and learn a bit about Robert Swinhoe who served here as Consul General and was also a well-known naturalist with many species named after him. Our 6 minute sketch of the view above. We really focused on the shape of 85 Sky Tower as it dominates the middle of the sketch.
